According to Dean Jones of Give Me Sport, Tottenham have started negotiations and have made an inquiry to buy playmaker James Maddison from Leicester City this summer. Arsenal are also rumored to be interested in Maddison.
The 25-year-old Maddison had a fantastic season for the Foxes last year, contributing to 30 goals across 52 games.
The England midfielder scored 18 goals while also providing 12 assists. However, his future is uncertain.
The former Norwich star has begun the latter two years of his deal with the King Power. According to The Telegraph, Leicester may need to sell players since their wage ratio in relation to revenue is deemed unsustainable.
“I’m told Spurs have touched base over Maddison and a deal would not be impossible but it would cost them a lot of money. Probably more than they would want to spend. But you never know, the door isn’t closed.” Said Dean Jones
For Tottenham, Maddison would be a great signing. He would give them that extra creative edge in the final third and add another piece to the puzzle that will allow them to successfully complete their search for silverware. Jones is however correct.
