Unsure future for Pogba at United

Paul Pogba was in mesmeric form as Leeds were thumped 5-1 in a packed Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Bruno Fernandes netted a sublime hat-trick with Mason Greenwood and Fred also on the score sheet.

But Pogba was also outstanding, registering four assists in a display that oozed class.

Team mate Bruno Fernandes had nothing but praise for Pogba in his post-match interview.

“People discuss about the quality of Paul but the quality of him shouldn’t be discussed,” he said.

“We know what he can do and he showed that.

“He’s really important for us and we know we can expect this type of performance from Paul.”

But while Pogba was excellent, the Daily Mail say the midfielder has shown ‘little interest’ in penning a contract extension with the club.

Meanwhile Manchester United boss Solksjaer has made it crystal clear both privately and publicly that he wants the World Cup winner to stay at the club.

Pogba’s impressive performance could be a way of making himself a target for top clubs in a year’s time when his contract runs out at Old Trafford.

Paris Saint-Germain were linked with him this summer, but they could not let the chance of signing Messi pass them by as they opted to bring in the Argentinian whose time at Barcelona came to an unexpected end after the club could not cope with La Liga’s financial laws. This has ended the Ligue 1 giants’ pursuit for Pogba currently, even though they may be looking to sign him next summer after a year of Messi’s cash generation at the club.

The France international has been on Real Madrid’s radar for quite some time now, but the club still has it that PSG forward Kylian Mbappe is the main man they are after.

Juventus would also love to re-sign the former Le Havre prodigy, despite letting him go five years ago.

Pogba’s second arrival at Manchester United has not turned out as both the club and player expected so far.

Since touching down in 2016 for a record £89 million, the 28-year-old has only won two trophies with the club.
