According to reporter Ekrem Konur, West Ham are “very close” to recruiting West Brom’s Matheus Pereira.
West Ham have been connected with a bid for the Baggies player, who is said to be David Moyes’ replacement to Jesse Lingard.
With a deal to permanently sign Lingard falling through, it appears the club has chosen to move on and aim to bring a deserving replacement to East London instead.
Last season, Pereira was West Brom’s top scorer, netting 12 goals, but this could not prevent them from being relegated to the Championship.
Their current manager, Valerien Ismael, had earlier admitted that the Brazilian would leave this summer.
Journalist Ekrem Konur posted on his Twitter account saying: “As of now, Matheus Pereira is very close to West Ham.”
The reporter was one of the first to reveal West Ham’s interest in PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, who joined the club last week, so there’s reason to believe this current report is accurate.
Given his most recent update on the transfer move, one would presume West Ham has improved on that offer, but only time will tell.
