West Brom in hunt to sign Aston Villa defender – journalist
According to Darren Witcoop, a journalist from the Sunday Mirror, West Brom, along with several other Championship clubs, are interested in acquiring Aston Villa’s defender, Kortney Hause.
The 28-year-old player is being closely observed by Carlos Corberan’s team, but they are concerned about his recent injury history.
Hause spent the 2022-23 season on loan with Watford, also in the Championship, but could only make three appearances due to a knee injury that sidelined him for most of the campaign.
Taking to Twitter, Witcoop wrote: “Kortney Hause [is] one to keep an eye on. West Brom among the Championship clubs who have Hause on their list but the defender has been hampered with a knee issue that wrecked a loan spell at Watford last season.”
The 28-year-old defender, Kortney Hause, has a history of injury issues and hasn’t played more than ten league games in a season since 2020. It’s uncertain whether West Brom’s reported interest will lead to an actual bid.
West Brom is facing financial constraints during this transfer window, which limits them to pursuing loan deals and free agents. They must be selective in their summer business due to their financial situation.
Hause could potentially be acquired at a low cost due to his lack of recent playing time, resulting in a reduced permanent transfer fee or loan fee. However, taking on such a gamble might not be wise for West Brom, given their financial uncertainties.
Although Hause has struggled with fitness in the past, he remains under contract with Aston Villa until 2025, indicating his potential when fit and healthy.
While a club with more depth and financial resources might find signing him worth the risk, for West Brom, it seems like a risky move.
