Moyes has been eyeing possible candidates to assist Michail Antonio in his front yard almost all summer, his sights now set on a brilliant relegated winger.

Ivory Coast International, Maxwel Cornet, who is wanted by various other EPL clubs, including but not limited to Newcastle and Everton, is the man in question.

The player netted nine impressive goals from 26 appearances for Burnley last season, which in itself is an almost unprecedented feat considering his team was in a relegation battle most of the season.

After several reports and confirmation linking the 25-year-old to West Ham, Sky Sports now reports that the Hammers are in the latter stages of their negotiations with Burnley for the versatile winger.

The release clause (17.5M pounds) for Cornet isn’t a small sum, but for West Ham, it’s almost nothing if they’ll get someone of Cornet’s calibre on their side in return.

His prowess at the front, in midfield, and even defense will not just give Moyes Antonio’s help but something better, and that is exactly what the Hammers need to successfully fend off competition in domestic and European competitions.

It’s almost improbable that Maxwell (considering his top class and form) will be satisfied staying with a second-tier side, so the London side has a chance to pull him in.

Moreover, the allure of playing in a European Cup might just be too great for other competitors to match, so Moyes’s side could be said to have one hand on the winger already.
