According to Fotomac, the Turkish news outlet, Besiktas may terminate Arthur Masuaku’s loan contract early, meaning he could return to West Ham earlier than anticipated.
Besiktas is reportedly in talks with three different left-backs ahead of the Super Lig transfer window closing on 18 February, and if they sign a new left-back before the winter transfer deadline, Masuaku will be sent back to West Ham.
If a replacement is signed, Besiktas has informed Masuaku that he will be “dismissed,” and his loan will be terminated.
While Besiktas does have the option to purchase Masuaku on a permanent basis, the chances of that happening seem low.
Besiktas are considering terminating Masuaku’s loan deal, according to Fotomac. The Istanbul club has a few days left to sign a replacement for the former Olympiakos left-back.
Masuaku has played 20 times in the Super Lig this season and has been a regular for Besiktas. However, he has not performed well in those games and has had a tough few years.
He did score a winner against Adana Demirspor on 29 December, but other than that, his time in Istanbul has been mostly disappointing.
If Besiktas signs a replacement for Masuaku, it is unclear whether or not he would be able to be registered in the squad for the rest of the Premier League season.
Even though Masuaku hasn’t been great for Besiktas, West Ham could use all the help they can get to see out the season, and someone is better than no one.
