Darwin Nunez has piqued West Ham United’s interest, with the Daily Mail suggesting that a bid has been made for the 22-year-old.

In the last hours of the January transfer window, the Hammers might be one of the teams to keep an eye on. They’ve been connected with club-record bids for Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, among others.

And it appears that if they expect to pull off a stunning late bid for Nunez, they will have to make similar efforts.

According to the Daily Mail, an offer has been submitted. The Uruguayan is valued at £45 million by Benfica, and he has already scored 20 goals this season.

It should be remembered that moving can be tough. Benfica will be apprehensive about releasing Nunez who is now on international duty, while time is running out to find a replacement.

It may seem self-evident, but West Ham must move on. However, it appears that the deadline for landing Nunez may be approaching even sooner. They need to give Benfica enough time to bring in their own striker.

That could indicate that we won’t have to wait long to find out if West Ham has a serious chance of completing a deal on Monday.
