Following the move of central defender Kurt Zouma from Chelsea to West Ham, his new teammates are reportedly unhappy, according to Charlie Wyett.

According to Wyett, the West Ham squad do not want France international defender Zouma to earn a six-figure weekly wage at the London stadium.

“The £125,000 a week being banked by new arrival Kurt Zouma, 26, from Chelsea has not gone down particularly well with other players,” Wyett wrote for The Sun.

Zouma’s pay at the London Stadium would likely be the same as it was at Stamford Bridge.

The centre back was undoubtedly making a good sum at Stamford Bridge because he had been playing for a high-profile club for a long time.

His chances of negotiating a large contract increased greatly, as interest in him was sure to be high and since he was tied to current European champions. Thus, it seemed highly unlikely that he would not seek a large contract at his next club, especially because he is in his peak earning years.

It’s difficult to criticize a player if the club is willing to meet his demands.

Darren Bent, a former Premier League player, predicted that Zouma’s salary could upset the team if he were to be the highest earner.

His performances in recent years have raised the question of whether he had already done enough to be the highest-paid player.

When it is assumed that Zouma is the highest earner, then Rice’s feeling of entitlement is valid.
