The Irons are ‘disappointed,’ according to Pablo Fornals, who spoke to West Ham TV about their recent lack of positive Premier League outcomes and performances.
After failing to keep a lead on Saturday, the Hammers have won just one of their previous five Premier League games.
David Moyes’ side took the lead against Newcastle United, but Joe Willock equalized in stoppage time in the first half, canceling out Craig Dawson’s earlier free header.
Dawson had also been West Ham’s hero the week before, scoring a 91st-minute equalizer in a 2-2 draw with Leicester City.
At the King Power Stadium, Jarrod Bowen had broken the deadlock before Youri Tielemans and Ricardo Pereira changed the narrative with the Foxes’ lone shots on target.
Since defeating relegation-threatened Everton, there have been two draws in a row. West Ham have been knocked out of the top four by Watford.
The Hammers had a one-point lead over Manchester United in the Premier League’s Champions League qualification spots after 26 games, but they currently trail United by four.
West Ham will have new hurdles in the 2021/22 campaign as they try to break into the Premier League’s top four.
For the first time, they competed in the Europa League group stage and advanced to the last 16. They also advanced to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
The Irons are also still in the FA Cup after overcoming Kidderminster Harriers in extra time in the National League North.
Fornals sees positives in West Ham’s cup heroics and European tour, but he also concedes that the team’s recent drop in league form annoys Moyes.
“It has been intense and not many of the guys have played European competitions before,” Fornals said. “We have done well in the two [domestic] cups, too. So, it’s many games, but we have really good players and the whole squad is committed for everything.
“I think it’s most important to keep taking points and still pass rounds in the other competitions. We are the first ones who want to fly every time, who want to be fighting with the teams at the top, but all of this is new for every one of us.
“It’s a process and I can say this, and this is a truth, that we’re not losing games. So, the thing is all of us are disappointed [in recent performances]. But at the end of the day, it’s better to go home with one point than without.”
