Zlatan Ibrahimovic is preparing to make a comeback, as he is reportedly set to be named in AC Milan’s lineup for their match against Torino tonight.
The 41-year-old striker has been inactive since last season’s end due to a knee injury he sustained over the summer.
Previously, it was reported that AC Milan opted not to include him in their Champions League squad due to his knee injury.
However, according to Sky Italia, Ibrahimovic will be on the bench for the match at the San Siro tonight, which will be his first appearance in 9 months since his last game in the 2021-22 season.
In recent seasons, the former Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Manchester United player has faced several injury setbacks, as he nears the end of his playing career.
In the last season, he only started 12 games, and most of his 27 appearances were as a substitute. The prior season, he made only 18 Serie A appearances, but his 15 goals helped AC Milan win their first title in 11 years.
AC Milan confirmed last week that Ibrahimovic would not be part of their squad for the latter stages of the Champions League, where they are set to face Tottenham in the Round of 16.
Leaving him out could be perceived as a risky decision by Milan, as the veteran striker has had a significant impact when he has played, since his return to the club in January 2020.
In total, he has scored 33 goals in 60 league matches since returning to Europe after a short stint at LA Galaxy.
AC Milan has struggled in his absence this season, currently sitting in sixth place and 18 points behind league leaders Napoli.
Ibrahimović, who recently resumed training, believes he can still have an impact on his return to the squad.
